Muriel, one of the world's foremost fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarists, is the first woman to win the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship. She is an engaging performer, and her joy for music, humor, and adaptability across musical genres are admired by guitarists and audiences alike. She is the host and founder of Muriel Anderson's "All-Star Guitar Night" and has founded the Music for Life Alliance charity. She is a prolific composer of music on guitar and harp guitar and tours year-round in North America, Europe, and the Far East. Muriel Anderson enjoys giving guitar workshops, sponsored by GHS Signature Strings. She has released numerous books and instructional DVDs published by Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, Truefire, and Zen-On in Japan, and she is a bronze-level winner of Acoustic Guitar's 2009 Reader's Choice Award for "Best Classical Guitarist." She received a degree in music from DePaul University and went on to study with the classical virtuoso Christopher Parkening and with Nashville legend Chet Atkins.
