Tony Smotherman

Guitar Specialist · 25+ years experience
Tony discovered Johann Sebastian Bach's music when he was 15, leading him to take classical guitar lessons. He practiced rigorously, and within 3 years, he was highly recognized for his music and was chosen as Middleburg High School's "Most Talented." One of his musical pieces reached Queen Elizabeth II, who praised his craft, describing his music as "highly sophisticated." After a few years, he began exploring other avenues and started his journey on electric guitar. In 2000, he was greatly moved by Ravi Shankar's music and began experimenting with the sitar and sarod, two important instruments in Northern Indian classical music. With many musical worlds intertwined and a career as a guitar instructor for more than 2 decades, he made a huge name in the music industry. He released multiple solo albums and 8 official instructional releases, along with acquiring endorsements with Vigier Guitars, DR Strings, and Morley Pedals, among others. Additionally, he has opened for and played with a wide variety of national and international touring acts.
