Chundari Penne - Introduction

Chundari Penne is a beloved Malayalam song from the 2016 film Charlie. The track features Dulquer Salmaan’s warm, conversational vocals and was composed by Gopi Sundar with lyrics by Santhosh Varma. The song’s gentle melody and heartfelt words made it an instant favourite. Its mix of acoustic guitar, light percussion, and subtle strings gives it a nostalgic yet fresh feel.

The song connects deeply with the character of Charlie, a free-spirited traveller in the film. This added emotional layers to the music. The lyrics paint a picture of love and longing in simple but poetic Malayalam. Dulquer’s singing style feels personal, almost like he’s telling a story rather than performing. The track stands out in Malayalam cinema for its blend of modern and traditional sounds.

Chundari Penne Guitar Lesson

Taught by Mike Dugan, this lesson covers the song’s soothing guitar work. The track is in G major and uses a relaxed strumming pattern that matches its easygoing vibe. The main progression moves between G, Em, C, and D, creating a circular, flowing feel. The chords are basic but played with a light touch to keep the mood airy.

The strumming pattern follows a down-down-up-up-down-up rhythm. This gives the song its signature sway. The tempo is slow, so focus on keeping the strokes even and relaxed. The verses have a softer dynamic, while the chorus opens up slightly with fuller strums. Palm muting is used sparingly, just to add subtle texture in certain spots.

For the lead parts, the melody follows the vocal line closely. The fills between verses use simple hammer-ons and pull-offs on the higher strings. The solo section is minimal, sticking to the G major scale with a few tasteful bends. The tone should be clean and warm, with just a hint of reverb to match the original recording.

Beginners can start by mastering the chord changes at a slow pace. The song’s slow tempo makes it forgiving for practice. Intermediate players should work on matching the delicate dynamics between sections. The key is to keep the playing light and expressive, not forceful.

Sau Aasmaan Guitar Lesson

Taught by Steve Luciano, this lesson covers how to play "Sau Aasmaan" on guitar. The song is in the key of F#/Gb major, which gives it a bright, uplifting sound. The main chords follow a I-V-vi-IV progression, a common pattern in pop music that makes the song easy to learn but effective.

The strumming pattern uses a steady down-down-up-up-down-up rhythm in 4/4 time. This pattern keeps the energy high while allowing the chords to ring clearly. The verse and chorus use the same chord progression, but the chorus adds more emphasis with fuller strums. The pre-chorus introduces a slight variation with a B-C#-F# movement that builds tension before releasing back to the main progression.

For the lead parts, the song uses the F# major scale (F#-G#-A#-B-C#-D#-E#). The melody moves mostly step-by-step through these notes, with occasional jumps that give it a playful quality. When playing the vocal lines on guitar, focus on smooth transitions between notes and add light vibrato to longer notes for expression.

Beginners should start by mastering the chord shapes and basic strumming pattern. The F# major chord can be challenging at first - try the 2-4-4-3-2-2 barre shape or simplify it to xx4322. Intermediate players can work on matching the vocal melody on guitar. Advanced players should focus on adding embellishments like hammer-ons and slides to make their playing more

expressive.

Soch Na Sake – Guitar Lesson

This lesson is taught by our skilled instructor, Mike Walker, who takes you through the song step by step with clear explanations. The song is played with a capo on the 2nd fret, which means that even though the original key is A major, you’re actually playing chords relative to the capo in G major. This makes the chords easier to handle and perfect for acoustic guitar players at an intermediate level. The main chords you’ll use are G, Em, C, B7, and D, all common chords that sound smooth together and carry the romantic vibe of the song.

Mike shows you how to play these chords in a simple progression that fits the flow of the melody. The strumming pattern is gentle and steady, supporting the emotional tone without overpowering the vocals. One interesting chord here is B7, which adds a little extra colour and tension before resolving back to the main chords. Mike makes sure to explain how to shift between these chords without losing the rhythm.

Another important part of the lesson is the rhythm and timing. Mike breaks down the strumming pattern into easy sections so that even if you’re new to playing with a capo, you’ll feel confident. He also plays through the entire song at a comfortable speed, so you can follow along and practice each part until it feels natural.

Muskurane Ki Wajah - Introduction

Welcome to the guitar lesson on one of the most famous romantic ballads from the previous decade, Muskurane by Arijit Singh. The song is from the movie ‘Citylights’, which is highly acclaimed for showing the cruelty of a modern city commonly referred to as the city of dreams. The song received the Song of the Year Award at the Mirchi Music Awards and has amassed more than 60 million views on YouTube since its release in 2014.

Muskurane Ki Wajah translates to ‘reason for a smile’, which is a romantic expression towards a beloved. The plot of the film revolves around a couple who migrate to a Tier 1 city in search of a livelihood, but have to face deceit from the city. Through the song, the character is conveying to his beloved that “you are the reason for my smile, in the times when life is tough”.

Muskurane Ki Wajah Guitar Lesson

Muskurane guitar lesson is taught by our expert, J.J. , who explains all the different sections of the song in a section-by-section manner –from the intro that talks about the chords and different voicings of those chords, to the rhythms and solos of the song. The song is in Eb standard tuning and in the key of D major, which is a common tuning for the classic rock sound.

To play the song in the original key and with standard chord shapes, a capo is needed on the 2nd fret. Advanced players can move to barred versions of the chords, should they not feel comfortable with the capo. The strumming of the song is unique in the sense that although the song can be played using the standard eight-note strumming, the strumming used here is that of the fifth-note pattern. This gives the song a breathing-like movement, where the empty three strums of a bar rest.

The song features a unique cadence that goes from an E major to an A minor, which creates a beautiful tension and release in the song, and even more unique is the fact that on the chord that brings the tension, the song lyrics also talk about discomfort, both of which later resolves to a minor chord and a comfortable meaning.

Muskurane lyrics, along with the tabs, are also available beside the video lesson that you can refer to while learning the song.

Q. Do I need a capo for this song?

Yes, we recommend using a capo on the 2nd fret to match the original pitch and make chord shapes easier to play.

Humdard from Ek Villian is a textbook example of how minimal harmony should be paired with strong vocals in order to create a long-lasting impact in the hearts of listeners. At first, you might think this song is composed in such a way that it feels static, but the deliberate compositional choices make this song impactful while delivering a sense of emotional longing.

Speaking of guitar chords, in Humdard, they act like a harmonic cushion, and not just a rhythmic engine, which makes the song move forward. This is something guitar learners need to observe, so they don’t use the guitar to drive the groove. Apart from this, the rhythmic density in this song has been kept low intentionally.

It’s a song that goes pretty well when you pair it with an acoustic guitar. The chord progression you will be learning in this lesson is quite clinical. Instead of adding in a number of different shapes, it returns to familiar ones, thus reinforcing emotional persistence.

From this guitar lesson by Mike Walker, you will understand how a minor-key harmony can feel warm rather than just dark when it gets paired with gentle dynamics. For this song, you will be mastering the power of the arpeggios, which give more clarity to each note you strike, allowing you to control attack and decay.

Chords Used in Song Guitar Lesson

Here is the list of primary chords which you will be using from start to finish: Am (A minor), F (F major), C (C major), G (G major).

If you are having a hard time playing F major, which is a barre chord, you can play Fmaj7.

This song follows the typical progression of: Am – F – C – G.

Here are some optional chords which you can add to make light variations: Am7 (instead of Am), Cadd9 (instead of C).

These chords are not mandatory for you to play, but if you do learn to play them, they will add smoothness and emotional depth, especially in slower sections of the song.
